Overview
Inspired by real-life observations in my partner's household, where expired items often went unnoticed and new groceries were repeatedly overbought due to a lack of communication and visibility.
problem
Food waste is a systemic issue driven by a lack of visibility, time, and coordination. For busy mothers, kitchen management is a major source of stress, cost, and environmental impact.
Research
Methods: Secondary research, surveys, 1:1 interviews
330 million pounds of food are wasted in the U.S. every day.
Women do the majority of grocery shopping and meal prep:
In 2019, 51% of women were primarily responsible for meal preparation vs 17% of men.
45% of women were primarily responsible for grocery shopping vs 18% of men.
